Kargil, December 08, 2025:

Director of Social and Tribal Welfare, UT Ladakh, Smt. Kunzes Angmo, carried out an extensive tour of several Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) under the ICDS Project Shargole on Monday. The visit aimed to assess service delivery, infrastructure status, and the overall functioning of Anganwadi services in the region.

The Director visited multiple centres, including Gongma Rgyalkhang, Youkma Rgyalkhang Wakha, Karamba Khar, and Lotsum 1st.
Warm Reception and Field Interaction
Upon arrival, Smt. Angmo was welcomed by the CDPO Shargole and ICDS staff.
Her inspection began at AWC Gongma Rgyalkhang, where she interacted closely with Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs), and beneficiaries. She highlighted the importance of efficient and timely service delivery to ensure that children and women receive the full benefits of the ICDS programme.

She then moved to AWC Youkma Rgyalkhang, where she again engaged with frontline workers and beneficiaries, assessing their feedback and satisfaction with the services provided.
Inspection of New Infrastructure at Karamba Khar
During her visit to Karamba Khar, the Director inspected the AWC that was recently shifted to a newly constructed building. She reviewed the functioning of the centre, interacted with AWWs, AWHs, and beneficiaries, and assessed the improvements offered by the upgraded infrastructure.
Meeting on Key Departmental Priorities
Later, a review meeting was held at the CDPO Office Shargole, attended by CDPO and ICDS staff members.
Smt. Angmo emphasized several key priorities for strengthening ICDS implementation, including:
Children’s self-Aadhaar enrollment APAAR ID creation ABHA Card registration for beneficiaries Exploring co-location of Anganwadi Centres within schools to enhance accessibility and service delivery

Final Visit to AWC Lotsum 1st
Concluding her tour, the Director visited AWC Lotsum 1st, where she interacted with AWWs, AWHs, and thoroughly examined registers, records, and the overall management of the centre.
This visit reflects the department’s continued commitment to improving early childhood services, nutritional support, and grassroots-level welfare delivery across Ladakh.
