Ten Days Product Development Program for Specially-abled Persons organized by Ladakh Skill Development Mission concludes; Commissioner Secretary Padma Angmo felicitates the participants and the Trainers

Leh, Oct. 23: The ten-day ‘Product Development Program’ for Specially-abled Persons organized by Ladakh Skill Development Mission concluded today at People’s Action Group of Inclusion & Rights (PAGIR), Leh.

Commissioner Secretary Padma Angmo who was the Chief Guest at the concluding session, expressed her appreciation for the dedication and hard work put in by the specially-abled trainees and the commitment displayed by the designer Neeji Bansal and the Master Trainer Jameel. Padma Angmo, while congratulating the trainees for successfully completing the ten-days programme, underscored the paramount importance of quality and the continuous pursuit of excellence in all aspects of product development. Commissioner Secretary handed over completion certificate to thirteen trainees.

Director of the Social & Tribal Welfare Department, UT Ladakh, Tashi Dolma, who is also the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, emphasized the program’s significance and the UT administration’s and department’s unwavering commitment to empowering and improving the lives of specially-abled individuals in Ladakh. President of PAGIR Tsewang Dorje commended the designer, trainer, and trainees for their role in refining and tailoring the skills imparted during the programme. He highlighted the importance of experiences and mentorship from experts in honing the trainees’ practical skills and knowledge. Designer Neeji Bansal shared her experiences with the trainees, emphasizing the mutual learning and collaboration that enriched the training experience, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and growth for all participants.

The initiative by the Ladakh Skill Development Mission was aimed to equip specially-abled individuals with creative skills in product design and provide them with the knowledge and expertise to craft high-quality market-ready products. Four products were developed during the program, viz – Tote Bag, Vanity Kit Bag, Mobile Phone bag, and greeting cards with handmade recycled paper.

Senior Accounts Officer of Technical Education & Skill Development, Stanzin Donsal, OSD of the Technical Education & Skill Development, Abied Hussain, and the trainees, along with PAGIR staff, were also present during the valedictory of the training program.
