Ladakh Lok Sabha candidates spark political debate
KARGIL,MAY 01: In a surprising turn of events, the political affairs in Ladakh has been stirred as the Lok Sabha election candidates are causing ripples of controversy. In Kargil, the Indian National Congress and National Conference have jointly nominated Haji Hanifa Jan, initially expected by the Congress, as the candidate for the upcoming elections.
However, political debate sparked when the INC high command in Delhi announced Tsering Namgyal as the contesting candidate from Ladakh. Namgyal, a sitting councillor in Leh Hill Council from Lower Leh, has caused a rift within the local Congress chapter.
Adding to the complexity, the BJP has nominated Tashi Gyalson, the current Chairman and CEC of LAHDC, Leh, while former Member of Parliament Jamyang Tsering Namgyal is expected to file nominations as an independent candidate.
Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party in Ladakh has yet to finalize its candidate, leaving the parliamentary seat in Ladakh poised for further political developments.
