LAACL Kargil organizes folk music, painting competition at Shakar Chiktan

Kargil, June 12, 2024: Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Language (LAACL), Kargil today organized an on Spot Music and Painting Competition under Junior, Senior and Age Group at Govt. Modern Middle School Shakar Doo in Shakar-Chiktan Sub Division.  

Executive Councilor, Education & Higher Education, LAHDC, Kargil, Zakir Hussain was the chief guest while Chief Education Officer, Kargil SD Namgyal was guest of honour on the occasion.

While addressing the students, teachers and villagers after distribution of merit certificates among prize-winning children, EC Zakir Hussain hailed Ladakh Cultural Academy for organizing the competition for children at Govt. Modern Middle School Shàkar Doo. He expressed hope that such competitions will help children to improve their hidden talent.

The EC also congratulated the academy for its endeavors in encouraging the younger generation of far-flung areas through such initiatives and urged the need to organize similar programs in other blocks of District Kargil.

He said education is a priority sector for LAHDC, Kargil and it is committed to adopt Hill Council Model Schools to improve education and ensure quality education in the government. schools.

He said LAHDC will provide all possible support to the academy so that it will work smoothly for the promotion and preservation of Ladakh rich culture and traditions of the land.

EC honored late Sajad Ali, a dedicated and well-qualified physical teacher from Shakar-Chiktan Sub Division for his remarkable service to the education department and the community will always be remembered by the people of Kargil.

A two-minute silence was observed in his memory. He further said that the painting competition saw colourful and imaginative artworks that depicted Ladakh’s natural beauty, cultural heritage and daily life.

The folk music competition featured melodious and heartfelt performances, showcasing the love and pride of children for their Shàkar-Chiktan division’s rich culture and languages. He said it was a great opportunity for children to showcase their talent and learn from each other as well as to celebrate the rich Purig cultural heritage.

Speaking on the occasion, the CEO congratulated Ladakh Cultural Academy, Kargil for organising such unique events for students for upliftment of dying culture and tradition of Ladakh. Providing such a platform will definitely nurture folk dance & songs will benefit the whole society.

He said that with education such Co-Curricular activities are important for every student for overall grooming. He further said that such competitions encourage creativity and artistic expression of children as well as promote Ladakhi culture and language.

He said that students must participate in such events to showcase their talent keeping in view Ladakh’s rich identity and ethnicity.

The judges for the competition were renowned artists and musicians from Kargil, who praised the skills of children and their creativity. The winners of the competition were awarded prizes and certificates. All the participants also received participation certificates.

Earlier, Deputy Secretary LAACL, Nazir Hussain said the academy is committed to promoting and preserving Ladakhi art, culture and language and plans to organize such events in the future.

He highlighted the objectives of the competitions and said that these are part of a series of such children-based programs being held by Cultural Academy Kargil across schools in different blocks of the district.

Nazir said the core idea behind organizing such events is to introduce young minds to realm of creative arts in painting and music. He reiterated the commitment of the academy to work tirelessly for encouraging the young generation.

While speaking on the occasion, Mohd Javed, Head Master, GMMS Shàkar Doo, thanked the academy for choosing their school for holding children-based competitions and expressed hope that these would enable the children acquire the spirit of competition besides cultural and creative awakening.

He added that such programs are need of the hour, as the present era of competition demands children to be adequately competent in extracurricular activities as well, especially creative ones, apart from their studies.

Pertinently, children from different schools of Shàkar-Chiktan Sub Division participated in the event, showcasing their talent and enthusiasm in the music competition.

In Junior Group competition Farzana Batool of GMS Shàkar Doo won Ist Position, Mehvish Fatima of MS Khardung won 2nd Position and Hassan Ruhullah of BMS Chiktan won 3rd position.

In the Senior Group, Tahira Banoo of Govt. High School Samrah won 1st position and Irfan Ali of GHSS Khangral won 2nd position and Ruksana Fatima of GHS Hagnis won 3rd position.

Similarly, in the painting competition, in Junior Group competition, Tahira Banoo of GMMS Shàkar Doo won 1st position and Mohammad Hussain of GBMS Chiktan won 2nd position and Sayeda Bano of KGBV Chiktan won the 3rd position.

Similarly, in Senior Level Group Nargis Fatima of GHS Hagnis won 1st position, Zahara Batool of GHS Samatha won 2nd position and Sania Zehra of GHS Samrah won 3rd position.

In the end, the Amateur Group level Fatima Kaneez of GHS School Khangral won 1st position, Nawaz Hussain of GHS school Shàkar won 2nd position and Nasreen Fatima of GHS School Shàkar won the 3rd position respectively. The program was conducted by Mohd Kazim Khan and Mohd Amin.
