Dr Pawan Kotwal Advisor to the Hon’ble lieutenant Governor launched the Skill Development Survey portal, an initiative of the Ladakh Power Development Department (LPPD), aimed to skill and upskill the youth of Ladakh in anticipation of upcoming renewable energy projects in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
A comprehensive presentation was given by NIC, who developed the portal, on the functioning of the portal. The portal, a first of its kind in the region, is designed to gather data on the current skill levels and interests of the youth in Ladakh.
It is pertinent to mention that this information will be crucial in shaping tailored training programs that align with the needs of the renewable energy sector, which is set to be a major contributor to Ladakh’s economic development. The survey is expected to help identify gaps in skills and provide the necessary guidance for the youth to enchance their employability in this growing field.
Advisor to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Dr Kotwal appreciated the initiative while suggesting some additions to the portal so that it can cover all aspects of the survey efficiently and effectively.
The event highlighted the potential of Ladakh to become a leading hub for renewable energy, particularly solar and wind energy and the need to equip the local youth with the relevant skills to participate actively in this transformation.
The survey will be open to all youth of Ladakh, and the data collected will be used to design courses in collaboration with leading institutions of the country. Detailed information shall be available on lpddsurvey.in
