Hard Work and Dedication Can Make a Change

0

PHC Shargole is located in Kargil, nestled up in the tough but dedicated Ladakh region. I’ve had the opportunity of working at this primary health center for the last six months, and during that time I’ve seen firsthand the transformation that can be achieved with perseverance, hard work, and cooperation. Our entire staff has been working nonstop to get ready for the upcoming National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) inspection, and the changes we’ve observed are outstanding.

The working atmosphere was different and the challenges seemed overwhelming when I initially joined. However, I see a fresh enthusiasm, a rejuvenated approach to work, and a collective dedication to excellence today. Every area of the PHC, from improved patient care to more effective workflows, relates a tale of improvement. Even though the changes are small, they have a big impact—much like a mountain climber’s steady steps that lead us closer to the top with every step.

The power of Team work

Our growth has been a result of our collective efforts rather than a single feat. True transformation in a health system can only occur when everyone in it is committed to the same goal. The staff at PHC Shargole has demonstrated exceptional cooperation, ranging from the BMO, medical officers, nursing staff, and even to the house keeping team. When everyone counts, even faults are taken Into account in the system. Collaboration and mutual support are therefore essential. The unit as a whole may suffer from one person’s slip, but when everyone cooperates, the effects are apparent.

Going Beyond the Call of Duty

The ability to step beyond of one’s role is what really inspires me. Employees aren’t limited to their designated tasks here. For example, our dental assistant has performed duties well beyond the scope of medicine, acting as our unofficial plumber and electrician when necessary. It’s moments like these that demonstrate the incredibly high level of commitment that the employees here possess. They aren’t just going to their duties daily but they are making a bigger difference by making sure that our PHC runs efficiently at all times.

Dedication Beyond Certificates

One thing is certain as the NQAS assessment draws near: it makes no difference if we receive the NQAS certificate. The heart and dedication with which our staff worked is what counts most. Their dedication to enhancing the PHC is admirable, and no degree can adequately express the spirit of cooperation and perseverance that has been shown. Whatever the result, what matters most is the daily cooperation and work we’ve witnessed.

Conclusion

Ultimately, how we contribute to PHC Shargole goes  beyond superficial changes. They show a change in commitment, attitude, and unity. I have no doubt that this center will flourish and expand even as we prepare for the NQAS evaluation because of the tireless work of all those involved. After all, hard effort transforms individuals rather than just places, and by doing so, it creates something enduring.
