LAHDC Kargil and LEDeG Discuss Strengthening Ecological Cooperation Ahead of MoU Signing

Kargil, December 12, 2025: The Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd. Jaffer Akhoon, convened a key meeting with representatives of the Ladakh Ecological Development Group (LEDeG) to deliberate on collaborative ecological initiatives and the proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) expected to be formalized soon.

The meeting focused on advancing sustainable development, improving waste-management systems, and enhancing ecological standards across Kargil district.

LEDeG Presents Key Components of Waste Flow Methodology

During the deliberations, LEDeG presented critical elements of their Waste Flow Diagram (WFD) methodology, covering:

Sample selection techniques Household waste-generation assessment Segregation of wet and dry waste Safety and hygiene parameters Comprehensive analysis practices

This framework is designed to help urban and rural bodies better understand waste patterns and plan effective, environmentally responsible solutions.

CEC Appreciates LEDeG’s Continued Ecological Contribution

CEC Dr. Akhoon expressed appreciation for LEDeG’s longstanding commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development in Ladakh. He emphasized the importance of:

He assured full support as both sides work collaboratively to finalize the forthcoming MoU.

E-Launch of Waste-Management Book “Waste Flow Diagram”

As part of the meeting, the CEC also e-launched LEDeG’s upcoming book, Waste Flow Diagram, aimed at supporting local bodies in:

Enhancing waste-management efficiency Planning sustainable ecological initiatives Implementing improved waste-handling practices across urban areas

The publication is expected to strengthen informed decision-making and promote cleaner surroundings in the district.
