Jammu,Apr 27 – CNS:- The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has quashed the detention of Mehraj Malik under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act, granting major relief to the Aam Aadmi Party legislator who had been in preventive custody since September last year.
According to details available with Kashmir News Corner, the court set aside the detention order while hearing a habeas corpus petition challenging Malik’s detention under the PSA.
Malik, who represents the Doda constituency and heads the AAP’s J&K unit, was detained on September 8, 2025, over allegations of activities prejudicial to public order. He was subsequently lodged in a jail in Kathua district.
The petition was heard over multiple dates, and the court had reserved its verdict on February 23 after completion of arguments from both sides.
With the detention order now quashed, Malik is expected to be released following completion of legal formalities, unless required in connection with any other case, sources said.(CNS)
