Over a five-day intensive field visit, the State Nodal Officer (SNO), Immunization, NHM UT Ladakh, Dr. Shahnaz Nissar, along with State Programme Coordinator Nusrat Khan, undertook a comprehensive review of immunization services across Kargil district.
The team visited 22 health facilities, including immunization units at PHCs, CHCs and Sub Centres, besides the Vaccine Cold Chain Store, covering Drass, Sankoo and Kargil. During the visit, the team interacted with immunization teams, reviewed ongoing activities and programme records, assessed service delivery and identified areas requiring further strengthening.
Dr. Shahnaz Nissar emphasized the importance of regular monitoring of immunization coverage, accurate record-keeping, beneficiary tracking and continuous assessment of programme performance. The field teams were provided technical guidance and practical recommendations to ensure the smooth delivery of immunization services and improve coverage across their respective areas.
The field visit underscores the commitment of the Health Department, UT Ladakh, towards strengthening routine immunization through regular field monitoring, supportive supervision and close coordination with frontline health teams.
The initiative aims to ensure that every eligible child and beneficiary is reached with timely immunization services, with particular focus on remote and hard-to-reach areas of the Union Territory.
