A delegation from Kargil led by BJP State Vice President Haji Anayat Ali met BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santhosh and discussed organisational and judicial concerns concerning the region.
The delegation included BJP District President Kargil Assadullah Munshi, Nominated Councillor and Kargil Bar Association president Adv. Reyaz Khan, and BJYM Kargil president Adv. Mohd Hassanain Rocky. Former Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, was also present during the interaction.
The delegation thanked Mr. Santhosh for his support for the creation of Sankoo as a BJP organisational district, describing the move as an important step towards strengthening the party’s organisational structure and grassroots engagement.
The delegation also raised the demand that cases concerning Kargil and Drass be heard at Kargil by the proposed/appropriate High Court Bench of Ladakh. It highlighted the difficulties faced by litigants from the two areas in travelling outside Kargil for judicial proceedings.
According to the delegation, Mr. Santhosh responded positively to the concerns and assured them that the matter would be considered and taken up with the appropriate authorities for further examination.
The demand for greater access to judicial services in Kargil has been a matter of concern among local legal and civil society groups, particularly in view of the distance and logistical difficulties faced by litigants from remote parts of the region.
