Skill Development Training Programme under RAMP LA-13 Intervention Commences in Zanskar

Zanskar, October 12, 2026: The training programme for trainees under the LA-13 intervention of the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Programme commenced today at the Handloom Department Weaving Centre, Zanskar, with a specialised session on dyeing conducted by experts from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Srinagar.

The programme is being implemented by NIFT Srinagar under the RAMP initiative of the Union Territory of Ladakh, with the objective of strengthening the skills and technical capacities of local trainees associated with the handloom and textile sector.

The inaugural session focused on dyeing techniques, providing trainees with expert guidance on the practical aspects of the dyeing process. The training is intended to enhance participants’ technical knowledge, improve the quality of their work, and promote the adoption of improved practices in traditional textile-related activities.

The initiative is part of the broader efforts under the RAMP Programme to support skill development, strengthen traditional livelihoods, and enhance the competitiveness of local enterprises in Ladakh. By bringing specialised expertise from NIFT Srinagar to Zanskar, the programme seeks to facilitate knowledge transfer and create opportunities for local artisans and aspiring entrepreneurs to improve their skills and livelihood prospects.

The commencement of the programme marks an important step towards strengthening the handloom and textile ecosystem in Zanskar through structured training and technical capacity-building support under the RAMP LA-13 intervention.
