KARGIL, APRIL 25, 2022: Deputy Commissioner/ CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, who is also the Chairperson of District Skill Committee (DSC) Kargil today convened a meeting of the committee at Conference Hall Baroo.
The meeting was aimed to discuss the activities about the skill development, to introduce and brief the functioning of DSC and to finalize the proposals for submission of Special Tribal Project Planning with a maximum budget of Rs 2 crore to be funded under the National Component of the SANKLAP program of the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in coordination with Mahatama Gandhi National Fellow (MGNF) Kargil.
Various Sector Skill Councils joined the meeting online and appraised the Chairperson DSC on various sectors, opportunities and challenges in their respective sectors.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Santosh emphasised on need to develop societal feeling and responsibility among public to ensure that the public initiate development projects by their own instead of relying merely on the government.
He said that the government is dedicated to assist, while it is the local entrepreneurs and private players who should play a vital role in development of skills and increase in production.
He also instructed all the concerned departments to submit a written suggestion of Skill Development trades in their concerned departments that would be beneficial in preparing a framework for Skill Development.
The Deputy Commissioner further emphasised on the need to engage a private agency for consultancy to conduct research on scope of various feasible trades and provide a road map for the development of a Skill Development plan/ framework.
Some key sectors discussed in the meeting are tourism and hospitality, banking and financial services, food industry capacity, management, entrepreneurship and professional skills, paint and coating, Automotive Skills Development, Green Jobs, textiles, handicraft, beauty and wellness.
The district officers and local entrepreneurs held a detailed discussion with the Sector Skill Councils on potential, challenges and opportunities in different sectors in Kargil.
Besides the Deputy Commissioner, SE PWD Nissar Ahmad Bagh, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Hadi, Assistant Commissioner Development Ghulam Muhammad, Chief Medical Officer, Deputy Director Industries and Commerce, Deputy Director Cooperatives, Assistant Director Tourism, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Executive Engineer Municipal Committee, District Social Welfare Officer, District Forest Officer, Superintendent ITI, other concerned district officers and local entrepreneurs attended the meeting.
