ADGP Ladakh Reviews Traffic Regulation at Zojila Axis with Stakeholders

Instructs Establishment of Joint Check Posts at Zojila Axis

KARGIL, 24 MAY : To review the traffic regulation system between Sonamarg and Meenamarg along the Zojila Axis, the ADGP Ladakh Dr.SD Singh Jamwal-IPS held a meeting with all the stakeholders at Zero Point.

The meeting was attended by SSP Ganderbal Sh.Sandeep Gupta – IPS, SSP Kargil Sh.Shree Ram R- IPS ,SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir Sh RP Singh-JKPS ,SP Traffic Ladakh Sh.Kacho Ishtyaq AA Khan -JKPS ,SDPO Kangan (SP) Sh.Muzaffar Jan-JKPS, OC Project Vijayak Lt.Col Nainwal ,OC Project Beacon Er.Gaurav, SDM Drass Sh.Vishal Atri -JKAS , DySP Traffic Ganderbal ,SHO Drass and Incharge Police Post Minamarg.  

Dr.S.D Singh Jamwal-IPS, ADGP Ladakh apprised the participants to ensure smooth and free flow of traffic at Zojila Axis and to avoid traffic congestion and inconvenience to the civilians at Zojila Axis especially at Zero Point.

The ADGP exerted that the Zojila Axis shall be operational for the civilians first and then the second priority shall be given to the Heavy Motor Vehicles carrying commodities .Moreover ,there shall be both sided traffic for the Light Motor Vehicles every day and Heavy Motor Vehicles shall ply after the movement of the LMVs are completed, first on trial basis and if it succeeds ,it shall be followed in routine. To make the Zojila Axis completely plyable for both sided traffic movement for LMVs at, the ADGP instructed the OC Beacon to clear the snow off the road shoulders which will further increases the width of the roads and ensure hassle free movement of traffic.

Moreover he directed SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir and SP Traffic Ladakh to ensure proper awareness of the drivers at Zero Point and Sonamarg that traffic rules are followed and no overtaking, over speeding and un-necessary stoppage is done ,otherwise they shall be put to heavy fine by way of traffic challan as per M.V Act and rules.

For better coordination of all the stake holders to ensure hassle traffic movement and minimal Traffic congestion especially at and around Zero Point, the ADGP directed for establishment of Joint Check Posts/Mobile Units with the officials of District Police Kargil, Traffic Police Ladakh Project Vijayak/Beacon at Zero Point Zojila.

The Head of Police Ladakh also raised the point of dangerous curves along this Axis with absence of Crash Barriers. He asked the OCs of Project Vijayak /Beacon to install the Crash Barriers or mirrors at these curves to ensure the safety of the road users along this patch. Besides these,the ADGP Ladakh also stressed on the points that there shall be no traffic movement of HMVs during the night hours, free mobility to be ensured completely, all data of incoming and outgoing traffic shall be maintained at the new Check /Mobile Posts , Police Post Minamarg and heavy fine as per rule of the parked Taxis , ensuring that no unnecessary parking is done at Zero Point.

Enroute Zero Point, Dr.S.D .Singh Jamwal -IPS accompanied by SSP Kargil Shree Ram R also met with the senior citizens at Police Station Drass and interacted with them and ensures to look into their grievances and to redress them at the earliest.
