The Advisor to the Honโble Lieutenant Governor, UT Ladakh, Dr. Pawan Kotwal chaired a meeting to discuss the guidelines for the disbursement of UT Subsidy for PM- Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Youjana, at Civil Secretariat Leh.
Executive Engineer, Power Development Department, Anwar Hussain, provided a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation, covering key milestones, consumer guidelines, and the physical status of the scheme.
Under this scheme, 2849 consumers have completed their registration on the National Portal for the scheme, while 275 applications are being processed. Till now, 29 beneficiaries have installed their solar rooftops under this scheme and the further inspection of 15 projects is going on.
The meeting thoroughly discussed the consumers guidelines, subsidy requirements, and testing labs for solar panels. The advisor directed the officials that once the Government of India releases the subsidy, UT Ladakh should release it timely so that beneficiaries of the scheme can avail full benefits of the scheme.
During the meeting, Secretary Power Development Department, Vikram Singh Malik informed the Advisor that 10,000 households shall be covered till December 2027, with a total capacity of 20.00 MW of electricity.
The Government of India has approved the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana on 29th February, 2024 to increase the share of solar rooftop capacity and empower residential households to generate their own electricity. The scheme has an outlay of Rs 75,021 crore and is to be implemented till FY 2026-27.
