CEC convenes introductory meeting with NHIDCL PMU Kargil

 

Kargil, Nov 03, 2023: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today convened an introductory meeting with the authorities of NHIDCL PMU Kargil.

 

Executive Councillor RDD, Cooperative, FCS&CA & Information, Er Punchok Tashi, Col. Porje Arun Bhikaji, General Manager Projects PMU Kargil along with other staff were also present in the meeting.

 

The General Manager gave a detailed presentation of the activities being carried out by the NHIDCL in Kargil including NH-301 and Zojila Tunnel. He appraised the CEC of the progress and issues in the construction of NH-301 (Kargil-Padum Road).

 

The General Manager highlighted the issues of hindrances in land acquisition for the project and requested for intervention in the matter. The CEC assured to take up the issue with the concerned for better coordination in the process.

 

The CEC asked to General Manager to immediately repair the patch of road excavated at Khachan village besides normal maintenance of other sections during the process of construction to mitigate the inconvenience faced by the people travelling on the road.

 

He also asked the General Manger to propose bridges of adequate width at the flash flood-prone rivers/Nallahs to avoid any damage to the public property and infrastructure.

 

The CEC also emphasized on monitoring of quality of works being sublet by the main contractors and asked for involvement of local vendors/sub-contractors in the works.

 

The CEC also stressed on completion of the project within the revised timeline to provide a safe and pleasant travel experience to the commuters.

 

He also asked the concerned to proceed in a coordinated manner to keep all the stakeholders in confidence which will help in achievement of the targets within the timeline.

 

It was informed that the next meeting shall be convened with all the concerned to plan the execution of work in full swing during the next working season.
