CEC Dr Jaffer chairs meeting to discuss merger of Anganwadi Centers with Government Schools
Kargil, Jan 11: Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today chaired a meeting to discuss the merger of Anganwadi Centers with Government Schools.
Executive Councilor, Social Welfare, Aga Syed Mujtaba Mosavi, Executive Councilor, Education, Zakir Husain, Director Social Welfare, Director School Education, Chief Education Officer Kargil, Program Officer ICDS Kargil, CDPOs, ZEOs of different Zones besides other concerned officers were present during the meeting.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held for the merger of Anganwadi Centers with Government Schools. The meeting discussed ways to avoid duplicacy of Mid-Day Meals provided by Anganwadi Centers and School Education Department.
The Director of School Education informed the CEC that in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP), Anganwadi Centers and school buildings should be co-located within the same compound.
CEC Dr Jaffer asked Director Social Welfare Department that, if there is a plan for construction of new Anganwadi Centres in the district, necessary provision of land compensation may be kept within the DPRs as most of the state land is far away from the inhabited locations.
Emphasizing the crucial role of both departments in establishing a solid foundation for children at an early stage, the CEC instructed officials to actively fulfill their responsibilities.
He emphasized that Anganwadi Centers and the School Education Department serve as the backbone of the government in uplifting society, particularly the deprived class.
