PhCEC Feroz Khan chairs meeting to discuss blueprint for development of Ice Hockey in Ladakh

Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan today chaired a meeting at Council Secretariat Kargil to discuss the blueprint for the development of Ice Hockey in Ladakh.
The meeting was attended by Executive Engineer Mechanical Department Mohammad Hassan, Tsewang Dolma, Programme Manager, Royal Enfield, Srinjoy Mukhopadhyay, Manager Sports Cluster and Corporate Communication, Shakya Mitra, Sports Consultant Royal Enfield, David Fitzpatrick, Former Sports Director IIHF, representatives of various Ice Hockey Sports Clubs besides other concern officials were present during the meeting.
Detailed discussions and deliberations were held to develop pragmatic strategy management and governance, infrastructure development, equipment procurement and other related aspects of Ice Hockey.
The CEC said that Kargil has a good number of talented ice hockey players who have represented Kargil at various national and international championships.
Stressing the need to develop world-class infrastructure for the ice hockey players in the district, Khan assured all possible support from the LAHDC Kargil for the development of Ice Hockey sports infrastructure in Kargil district.
The CEC also said that with consultation with the stakeholders, feedback and suggestions will be provided to make an inclusive and accessible ice hockey rink in the district.
The blueprint document has been drafted to present initial ideas, frameworks, and structures, with a division of stakeholders’ roles and responsibilities.
Pertinently, the blueprint seeks to implement professional infrastructure and inculcate international best practices with a vision for India to participate in the 2038 Winter Olympics, with UT Ladakh contributing at least 80 percent of players to the national team.
The CEC hoped that the final blueprint will help the Govt./Association to move ahead in imparting ice hockey training as per the international standards.
