Srinagar:
The Hon’ble Chief Minister today presided over the 17th Annual Convention of the Adventure Tour Operators’ Association of India (ATOAI) held at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC), Srinagar. The prestigious event brought together leading stakeholders from across the country to discuss opportunities and future strategies for adventure tourism in India.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister highlighted Jammu and Kashmir’s immense and untapped potential in adventure tourism, citing its diverse landscape, pristine mountains, rivers, and rich natural heritage. He emphasized that the region is uniquely positioned to emerge as a global hub for adventure activities such as trekking, mountaineering, skiing, rafting, and paragliding.
The Chief Minister stressed that safety, sustainability, and capacity-building must remain the cornerstone of adventure tourism development. He underlined the importance of adopting responsible tourism practices that protect the fragile ecosystem while ensuring the safety of tourists and local service providers.
Reaffirming the Government’s commitment, he stated that sustained efforts are being made to create a robust adventure tourism ecosystem through improved infrastructure, skilled manpower development, and strong policy support. These initiatives aim to position Jammu and Kashmir prominently on the global adventure tourism map.
The Chief Minister also emphasized that the growth of adventure tourism will play a crucial role in generating employment and livelihood opportunities for local youth and communities, thereby contributing to inclusive and sustainable economic development in the region.
The convention concluded with optimism and a shared vision to promote Jammu and Kashmir as a safe, sustainable, and world-class adventure tourism destination.
