Ladakh, Dec: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday officially inaugurated the Galwan War Memorial in Ladakh, paying tribute to the Indian soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during the Galwan Valley clash of June 2020.

The memorial, built at a high altitude close to the actual site of the confrontation, stands as a national symbol of gratitude to the 20 brave soldiers who laid down their lives while protecting India’s territorial integrity.
According to updates shared by MeghUpdates on X, the monument features dedicated plaques and commemorative elements highlighting the heroism of the troops who fought under extremely harsh terrain and sub-zero temperatures. The structure honours their courage and documents the historic events that unfolded in the valley.
During the inauguration, Rajnath Singh reiterated India’s commitment to strengthening border infrastructure and defence preparedness, emphasising that the bravery shown in Galwan will always inspire future generations.
He added that the memorial ensures the story of the soldiers’ sacrifice remains preserved at the very place where history was written.
