His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s 89th Birthday celebrated at Diskit Galdan Chosling in Nubra. The festivities included prayers, cultural performances and communal gatherings.

The Deputy Chief Executive Councillor Tsering Angchuk graced the occasion as the chief guest, joined by the Head Lamas of Samling Gonpa and Diskit Gonpa, SDM Nubra, Heads of Departments of Nubra Sub-Division, monks, and a large gathering of enthusiastic members of the public.

The festivities commenced with a ceremonial lighting of the butter lamp by Dy. CEC Tsering Angchuk, symbolizing auspicious beginnings and invoking blessings for the gathering.

A highlight of the event was the mesmerizing dance performances showcasing the rich cultural heritage of various villages in Nubra Valley.The celebration not only emphasised the cultural diversity and traditions of the region but also served as a platform for fostering community spirit and promoting cultural exchange.
