Inaugural Function: Handing Over of Water Tanker Keys to GDC, Kargil by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited under CSR Scheme

Kargil, July 05, 2024: The Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has made a significant contribution to addressing water scarcity issues at Government Degree College (GDC), Kargil, by donating a water tanker under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme. The keys of the water tanker were officially handed over during an inaugural function held on 5th July,2024.

The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. Mohammad Jaffer Akhone, Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of Kargil, Ladakh. Dr. Akhone expressed his appreciation for the Power Grid Corporationโ€™s initiative and extended his congratulations to the principal and all the staff members of GDC, Kargil, for their continuous efforts.

The Guest of Honour, Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Executive Director of the Northern Region, highlighted the significant work undertaken by the Power Grid Corporation. He emphasized the successful integration of Ladakh with the Northern Power Grid Station, which marks a milestone in the regionโ€™s development.

Special Guest, Sh. Srikant Balasaheb Suse, Deputy Commissioner of Kargil, spoke on the crucial role the water tanker facility will play in resolving the collegeโ€™s water issues. He also outlined comprehensive water management plans for the entire Kargil district, ensuring sustainable water resources for all.

Other distinguished guests present at the event included Executive Engineer, PHE, Sh. Mohd Hassan Lone, Senior General Manager, Sh. Arshad Iqbal Shah, General Manager HR, Sh. Vinod Prakash Bhaksla, and several other dignitaries.

During the event, Dr. Mohammad Jaffer Akhone reiterated his appreciation for the Power Grid Station and extended his congratulations to the college community. As a token of appreciation, Sh. Rajesh Kumar was felicitated with a memento by the CEC, Deputy Commissioner, and the In-charge Principal.

The ceremony was hosted by Assistant Professor Razia Parveen , Department of Botany. Padma Wangchok, In-charge Principal, delivered a heartfelt welcome note, addressing all guests and acknowledging their support.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Assistant Professor Thinless Chondol, Department of Commerce, who expressed gratitude to all participants and contributors for making the event a success.
