Kargil, December 4, 2025:

The Kargil Hill Council has expressed deep concern and regret after the High Court issued a stay order on the Council’s earlier decision to disqualify Councillor Nadeem, who was accused of taking an executive action without authorization. An FIR has also reportedly been filed against the councillor in connection with the matter.
According to the Council, the High Court’s stay appears to stem from a misunderstanding of the situation. The Council stated that elected members have the right to carry out development work for the welfare of people in their respective constituencies, and that such responsibilities cannot be suspended solely because an investigation is underway.
The statement further highlights that halting the work of public representatives impacts ongoing development activities in the region, which ultimately affects residents.
Meanwhile, the Jamiat-ul-Ulama Asna Asharia Kargil strongly criticized the repeated actions taken by the LAHDC Kargil Chairperson, suggesting that the steps raise questions about intent and administrative fairness. The organisation stated that unnecessary administrative pressure undermines the dignity and authority of elected members and creates obstacles in fulfilling public responsibilities.
The group emphasised that while disagreement and criticism are part of a democratic system, decisions influenced by political rivalry or personal motives are unacceptable. It urged the Council to avoid divisive actions and instead promote cooperation and unity among its members.
The statement concluded with an appeal to officials and leaders to refrain from such confrontational measures and focus on maintaining harmony for the greater interest of the district.
