J&K Bank MD & CEO Amitava Chatterjee Calls on LG Ladakh; Discusses Banking Outreach, Digital Inclusion for Remote Areas

Jammu, December 22: In a significant step toward strengthening financial inclusion in Ladakh, Shri Amitava Chatterjee, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Jammu & Kashmir Bank, paid a courtesy visit to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Kavinder Gupta, in Jammu today.

During the interaction, Shri Chatterjee briefed the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor about the bank’s ongoing initiatives, its expanding outreach, and its commitment to enhancing financial inclusion across the Union Territory. He highlighted efforts aimed at improving accessibility to modern banking services, particularly for residents living in remote and difficult-to-reach regions of Ladakh.

The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor lauded the crucial role played by J&K Bank in driving economic growth in the region. He emphasized that a strong and efficient banking network is essential for sustainable development, employment generation, and ensuring ease of doing business in Ladakh.

Encouraging the bank to continue its forward-looking initiatives, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor urged J&K Bank to further expand its customer-centric services and harness digital banking solutions for the benefit of people in far-flung areas. He stressed the importance of inclusive growth, financial empowerment, and simplified access to credit and digital services for every section of society.

Highlighting the need for enhanced financial connectivity, the Lieutenant Governor noted that strengthening last-mile banking services is vital for fostering economic resilience, sustainable progress, and self-reliance across Ladakh.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of the Union Territory Administration and J&K Bank toward building a stronger, digitally empowered, and financially inclusive Ladakh.
