Kargil, December 23, 2025:

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kargil successfully organized Kisan Samman Diwas at Salikote to commemorate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister, late Shri Chaudhary Charan Singh, a visionary leader and champion of farmers’ rights. The programme was graced by Syed Kazim Sabiri, former Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, as the Chief Guest. Officers from the Agriculture Department, officials of KVK Kargil, and a large number of farmers from the village attended the event.

The programme began with a welcome address by Mr. Mohd Hassan, Programme Assistant, KVK Kargil, who extended a warm welcome to all participants. This was followed by an address by Dr. Mansoor Hussain, Caretaker, KVK Kargil, who highlighted the objectives of the programme and paid tribute to the contributions of Shri Chaudhary Charan Singh. He stated that the former Prime Minister, who himself was a farmer, dedicated his entire life to the upliftment and welfare of the farming community and introduced several landmark reforms to strengthen India’s agriculture sector.

Dr. Mansoor Hussain encouraged farmers to adopt agriculture as an enterprise and take full benefit of modern technologies and various government schemes. He also informed that KVK Kargil has introduced several innovative farming technologies including natural farming practices, water conservation techniques such as mulching and drip irrigation, and the promotion of high-yield varieties of vegetables and food crops aimed at enhancing productivity and increasing farm income.

As part of the programme, a practical live demonstration was conducted on the preparation of Jeevamrit, Neem Astra, and Brahma Astra, in the presence of farmers. The demonstration aimed to familiarize participants with eco-friendly, low-cost, and sustainable natural farming inputs to support long-term crop productivity.

The celebration of Kisan Samman Diwas not only paid homage to the legacy of Chaudhary Charan Singh but also reaffirmed the commitment of KVK Kargil toward empowering farmers with knowledge, technology, and sustainable agricultural practices.
