Leh, December 23, 2025:
Kisan Diwas was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Nyoma (Leh-II), the highest altitude Krishi Vigyan Kendra in the country. The event witnessed the active participation of 78 farmers alongside KVK scientists and staff, making it a meaningful celebration dedicated to the farming community.
The programme was organized under the leadership of Dr. Phuntsog Tundup, Head of KVK Nyoma. During the programme, farmers were sensitized about the Viksit Bharat – G RAM G Bill, 2025, and provided detailed information on how they can avail benefits from the scheme. Seed distribution for the upcoming agricultural season was also carried out by Dr. Tashi Dolkar, Subject Matter Specialist, KVK Nyoma.
A live telecast of the address by the Hon’ble Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, was also screened, highlighting the national significance of Kisan Diwas and the vital role of farmers in nation-building. The programme also included an interactive session engaging farmers at the national level.
Lunch was arranged for all participating farmers. Following the event at KVK Nyoma, the team visited Phulak Village to continue the celebrations with the local farming community.
Farmers and officials took part enthusiastically in the programme. Alfalfa seeds and greenhouse polythene sheets were distributed to support protected cultivation, promote off-season vegetable production, and enhance agricultural sustainability in the region.
During the interaction, Dr. Tashi Dolkar emphasized the importance of Kisan Diwas, highlighting the crucial contribution of agriculture in strengthening rural livelihoods and ensuring food security. The team also shed light on key government schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana, and explained procedures for farmers to avail benefits under these initiatives.
The celebration not only honored the dedication of farmers but also reinforced the commitment to empowering them through knowledge, resources, and continuous support.
