Ladakh Announces Winter Vacation for Schools From December 8; Full Closure in Leh District From December 15

Leh, December 4: The Office of the Chief Education Officer (CEO), Leh, has issued an official order declaring the commencement of winter vacations for government and private schools across the district in view of the harsh cold conditions and freezing temperatures.

According to the order, all schools in the Nyoma and Durbuk zones up to Class 8 will remain closed for winter vacation starting from December 8, 2025.

Furthermore, the order states that all schools across the entire Leh district will remain closed for winter vacation from December 15, 2025.

The directive has been issued as per the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner/CEO LAHDC, Leh, considering the severe winter climate that affects normal functioning of schools in the region.

The circular has been forwarded to all relevant education authorities, including the Director of School Education UT Ladakh, Zonal Education Officers, principals of government and private schools, Doordarshan Leh, and All India Radio, with a request to broadcast the information in today’s news bulletin.

The order was signed by the Chief Education Officer, Leh, on December 4, 2025.
