Shargole, December 15, 2025:
The Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) Day was successfully observed at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Shargole with the objective of providing comprehensive and quality antenatal care services to pregnant women.
The PMSMA initiative offers free and assured antenatal healthcare through a fixed-day, single-window system, ensuring that expectant mothers are well-informed about the schedule and location for their health check-ups. The programme facilitates access to essential services including antenatal examinations, ultrasounds, iron-folic acid supplementation, and other necessary diagnostic tests.
Services Provided During PMSMA Day:
Complete Antenatal Care (ANC) package including blood pressure monitoring, general health check-ups, laboratory investigations, and one ultrasound examination. Free distribution of essential medicines such as Iron Folic Acid (IFA) tablets and calcium supplements. Early identification and management of high-risk pregnancies to ensure timely referral and care.
The PMSMA session at PHC Shargole was attended by Dr. Tabasum Fatima (Gynaecologist), Dr. Farida Banoo (Block Medical Officer, Sinologist), Dr. Tsering Chonzom (Medical Officer), Tsering Dolma (Community Health Officer), Skalzanq Angmo (ANM), along with other dedicated healthcare staff.
A total of 15 pregnant women were screened during the programme, and several high-risk pregnancies were identified for further monitoring and management.
The successful conduct of PMSMA Day at PHC Shargole reflects the continued commitment of the Health Department towards strengthening maternal healthcare services and ensuring safe motherhood at the grassroots level.
