World Environment Day Celebrated at PM SHRI Government Higher Secondary School, Pashkum

Kargil, June 5, 2025:

PM SHRI Government Higher Secondary School, Pashkum, in collaboration with the School Management Committee (SMC), enthusiastically celebrated World Environment Day with a series of meaningful activities to raise awareness about environmental conservation.

The day began with a cleanliness drive within the school campus, led by the students, staff members, and SMC representatives. Following the drive, a rally was organized from the school to Adda Zgang, Pashkum, with active participation from the students, teachers, and community members. Participants chanted slogans promoting environmental awareness and cleanliness, spreading the message of sustainability throughout the village.

A short but impactful event was then organized by the Eco Club under the leadership of its Chairperson, Mr. Mohd Ishaq. The program commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Nono Basharat of class 9th , followed by a warm welcome address by Mr. Khadim.

Two students, Fatima Zahra (Class 10) and Muntazir Mehdi (Class 11), shared their thoughts on the importance of World Environment Day and the need for collective environmental action.

The highlight of the program was a panel discussion featuring prominent speakers:

Mr. Shabir Hussain Fayaz (SMC Member)

Mr. Ishey Namgail (Worthy Principal)

They shared their insights on environmental challenges and the role of education and community participation in addressing them.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Vajeeda tabasum, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, guests, and villagers for their active involvement. Special thanks were extended to:

BDO Pashkum for providing a waste-carrying truck

BMO Shargole for supplying gloves, polythene bags, and masks to ensure the safety of all participants

The celebration was a testament to the school’s commitment to fostering environmental responsibility among students and the local community.
