Two-day capacity building program on ECBC, ENS organized by LPDD begins in Kargil
Kargil, June 03, 2024: Ladakh Power Development Department (LPDD) under the guidance of Chief Engineer, PDD Tsewang Paljor in collaboration with The Energy & Resources Institute (TERI) commenced a two-day training program today at Auditorium Hall Kargil on Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) and Eco Niwas Samhita (ENS)-“ECBC Rules and Compliance Procedure.”
The training program emphasized on means to energy conservation in commercial and residential buildings as its consumption has tremendously increased in the country. The training also intends to compliance of ECBC in UT Ladakh once it is notified.
J.K Vyas and R.P. Poddar presided as Bureau of Energy Efficiency certified ECBC master trainers. Both trainers shared their experiences and gave a detailed presentation on the pattern of electricity consumption in commercial and residential buildings in the country and design interventions to bring energy efficiency standards in buildings. They also stress on different methodologies for implementation of ECBC Code in commercial buildings.
The ECBC and ENS are the set of guidelines developed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power under the aegis of the Energy Conservation Act, 2001 to bring energy efficiency standards to reduce energy consumption in commercial and residential buildings.
The training was conducted for LPDD, PW(R&B), PW(PHE/I & FC), Rural Development Department, Mechanical Division, Kargil Development Authority, Tourism Department, Municipal Committee, Motor Garages and KREDA.
