15-day basic Ice Hockey coaching camp concludes in Kargil

Kargil, Feb 09, 2023: The 15-day basic Ice Hockey coaching camp for under 14 boys and girls organized by DYSSO Kargil in collaboration with Zonal Physical Education Officer Kargil concluded today at Khree Sultan Choo Sports Stadium, Bemathang, Kargil.

On the occasion, Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan was the chief guest besides participants, coaches and parents were present on the concluding ceremony. He congratulated DYSSO Kargil for organizing the camp.

Khan said across Kargil district, ice hockey has gained immense popularity among youth with the result excellent players have emerged in the field.

Hailing the skills of the players, the CEC said there is no dearth of talent in the district to uplift the game at national and international platforms. Keeping in view the talent and enthusiasm of players, he said LAHDC Kargil is committed to develop world-class sports infrastructure.

The CEC said two national-level Ice Hockey Rinks are under construction in the district. He also informed that the work is going on in full swing and expressed optimism that the construction works will be completed till next year.

Khan also said Ice Hockey Rinks will also be developed at village level as well.

While highlighting the importance of sports kits for the players CEC said LAHDC Kargil has kept a separate budget under the Subsidy Component for the purchase of kits.

He said the requisition should come through the respective Councilor for the purchase and suggested the players to get in touch with their Councilors and make the requisition. The CEC suggested players to opt for traditional sports like archery, polo and make career in it.

He also said that LAHDC Kargil has special focus on health, education and sports. He said for the development of sports infrastructure in the district many pragmatic steps have been already taken with the help of UT Administration in Kargil.

CEC Khan also appreciated the huge participation of girls in sports and said in coming future girls will be shine at all platforms of sports. Pertinently, around 250 players were trained during the 15-day coaching session.
