2-day training program under JJM on best practices for rural water resource management begins in Kargil

 

Kargil, Dec 26: Executive Councilor, I&FC/PHE, LAHDC, Kargil Kacho Mohammad Feroz and Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse today attended the inaugural ceremony of 2-day Level-2 Residential Training Programme under National Jal Jeevan Mission on best practices for rural water resource management.

 

The training program is organized by All India Institute of Local Self Government (AIILSG) an empanelled agency under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, GoI, for the engineers of JJM, including the Assistant Executive Engineers (AEEs) and Junior Engineers (JEs) of Kargil district.

 

Addressing the event, the EC expressed gratitude to AIILSG for organizing the training for the engineers of PHED, Kargil. He urged the participants to take maximum benefit from this training and enhance their potential. EC commended the JJM team for their unwavering commitment to the success of the JJM scheme in the district.

 

DC Kargil, who is also chairman of District Water Sanitation Mission Kargil, appreciated the hard work of JJM officials for making JJM a success in the region. He highlighted the role of LAHDC Kargil in streamlining the execution of works at ground level.

 

While commending the JJM, DC Kargil praised its focus on capacity building and highlighted the importance of community involvement.

 

Emphasizing the importance of the JJM scheme, DC Kargil underscored the need for developing multiple water sources to ensure its success.

 

He urged participants to actively participate in the training program by sharing experiences of working in harsh terrain and climatic conditions and learning from the experts.

 

The training session focused on topics such as overview of JJM and its components, ice-breaking activities, water supply infrastructure development, rainwater harvesting, community participation, groundwater management, problems related to water availability in rural areas of Kargil district, water quality concepts and principles, techniques for ensuring safe drinking water in rural area, challenges in water quality management, etc.

 

During the program, an interactive question-and-answer session was held. Various queries were addressed, and constructive feedback was gathered, enhancing the overall experience and knowledge-sharing during the event.

 

The others who were present in the program include Superintending Engineer, PHE/I&FC, Kargil, Maqbool Hussain, Executive Engineer, PHE Kargil, Mohd Hassan Lone, Executive Engineer PHE Division Zanskar, Kacho Mumtaz Ali and other concerned officials.
