2nd phase of FLNAT under Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram held in Kargil

 

Kargil, August 06, 2023: The second phase of the Foundational Literacy & Numeracy Assessment Test (FLNAT) under ULLAS: Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram, formerly known as New India Literacy Programme (NILP), was held today in Kargil.

 

At the outset, the Observer from the Ministry of Education, Nishant Chakraborty inspected various literacy centres of Kargil to monitor the smooth conduct of the examination.

 

CEO Kargil, Mushtaq Ahmed, conducted a visit to the assessment centers in the Zanskar Zone, overseeing their operations and facilities.

 

DEPO Kargil, Mohd Amin, District Coordinator, NILP, Sajjad Agha, Assistant Coordinator, NILP, Zeshan Ali, ZEO Sankoo, Mohd Hadi, Zonal Coordinator Sankoo, Mohd Ali besides other concerned officials accompanied the observer during the visit.

 

During the visit, the Observer visited Government Middle Schools of Saliskote, Faroona, Panchayat Ghar Saliskote and GMS Kanoor where he monitored the examination process taken to assess the foundational numeracy and literacy of the learners of concerned areas.

 

Zonal Level Monitoring Team including Zonal Education Officers, Zonal Education Planning Officers, Zonal Coordinators NILP, Village Coordinators NILP visited different assessment centres in their respective Zones.

 

The Monitoring team interacted with the volunteer trainers and learners and asked them about the procedure of learning and took an assessment of the examination procedure.

 

Around 16,000 learners in Kargil participated in the second Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Assessment Test at 343 Literacy Assessment Centres and 824 Volunteer Teachers and 369 School Teachers were engaged as supervisory staff during the test.

 

The Assessment Test was conducted as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Education, Question-Cum-Answer Booklet (QAB) translated into local languages were issued to the adult learners for the attempt and collected for evaluation at the Zonal level. The adult learners were enthusiastic and passionate during the test which is a stepping stone for the literacy.

 

It was informed that Kargil District will become First District with 100% literacy rate in the country. The Department of Education expressed gratitude to the District Administration, PRI members, field functionaries and Volunteer Teachers for their incredible cooperation in ensuring the smooth conduct of the assessment test.
