Kargil, December 12, 2025:
In a swift and efficient investigation, Drass Police successfully solved a theft case within three days, arresting the accused and recovering a major portion of the stolen amount.
The case began on 08 December 2025, when Rabban Singh, a labourer working at the Eastern Portal of the Zojila Tunnel, filed a complaint at Police Station Drass. He reported that ₹20,000 had been stolen from his room, following which police registered FIR No. 78/2025 under Section 305 BNS and launched an intensive investigation.
CCTV Footage Helps Identify Accused
During the probe, the investigation team examined CCTV footage from the worksite and surrounding areas. The footage led to the identification of the accused, Mohd Abass Lone, a resident of Banihal, who was also employed as a labourer with the Mega Company at the Eastern Portal Tunnel.
Acting quickly on the leads, Drass Police arrested the accused on 12 December 2025. Upon his interrogation, Lone confessed to the theft, and the police successfully recovered ₹19,000 out of the stolen ₹20,000 from his possession.
