Leh, December 23, 2025:
The Judicial Inquiry Commission constituted to investigate the September 24 Leh incident has successfully recorded statements from 22 officials, marking a significant step forward in the inquiry process. The information was shared by Joint Secretary to the Judicial Inquiry Commission, Sh. Rigzin Spalgon.
The Commission, chaired by Justice Dr. B. S. Chauhan, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, conducted its proceedings from December 17 to December 23, 2025. During this period, statements were recorded from key stakeholders including officials of the CRPF, Magistrates, and Ladakh Police.
According to the Joint Secretary, the Commission has already collected and thoroughly examined the written statements submitted earlier as part of the preliminary investigation. This detailed review aims to ensure a fair, transparent, and comprehensive assessment of the incident.
He further informed that in the upcoming sittings, which are scheduled to be held in the near future, members of the public will also be invited to appear before the Commission to record their statements. Additionally, the Commission will announce dates shortly for individuals who have already submitted affidavits so they may present their statements in person.
The proceedings underscore the administration’s commitment to ensuring accountability, transparency, and justice in addressing the September 24 Leh incident.
