VEC GMMS Biathang Shilikchey Started Community Classes Following Covid SOPs

Thanked Secretary Education UT Ladakh for Such Innovative idea

In Ladakh, to lessen the impact on the education of the students due to the prevailing Covid condition, Education department UT Ladakh has started Community Classes.

The Village Education Committee Biathang Shilikchey has started the community classes at Model Middle School Biathang, Kargil following all Covid-19 protocols.

The VEC chairman, Sarpanch and Headmaster of the school were present on the opening day and emphasized on Covid SOPs during the course of classes.


The Sarpanch and VEC chairman motivated the qualified youths of the same village to engage as voluntary teachers for community classes.

Chairman of the VEC thanked the UT administration for such a new way of classes during these pandemic situations and thanked the youths too for their voluntarism to make this option successful.


The Sarpanch of the Village said that the youths were realized the losses of the students and thus shown their willingness for this classes.


Headmaster of the School said thanked the volunteers and expressed his gratitude & congratulated the students and parents for this unique option opted by the UT admin to redress the sufferings of the student since last year.

He provided teaching materials say marker Board & pen furniture etc and instructed MDM cooks and helper to be on duty during the classes and service MDM to the eligible students.

The volunteers teaching and non-teaching assured the Sarpanch and VEC chairman for a successful and fruitful teaching during the community classes, said Mukhtar tr.

Meanwhile a student of the school said that they are very much happy with this offline classes as they were very much upset with the impact of lockdown of Covid19 on studies since last year.

The higher authority has found a new way to relate students with their studies which is better than nothing.

Meanwhile the Commissioner Secretary Education UT Ladakh, AK Sahu during a meeting asked both the Deputy Commissioners of Kargil and Leh to follow the guidelines already issued for running of community classes and adopt innovative measures such as visiting teachers, student volunteers for making good of academic losses of the student during the covid pandemic.

He stressed to designate village level teacher coordinator in each habitation to be responsible for the academic progress of the students in the village and coordinate with their respective school teachers/masters.
