Department of Travel and Tourism Management, EJMC Leh conducted a study tour to Nubra Valley for students of BA TTM 3rd semester for a duration of three days from 18th -20th September, 2024. The objective of the tour was to acquaint students with different tourist attractions of Nubra valley and give them practical knowledge of the functioning of tourism and hospitality industry. The tour commenced from EJMC Leh with participation of 16 students led by Assistant Prof Dr. Sonam Angmo. On day 1, students and faculty visited Diskit monastery and Diskit Chamba. It was followed by a visit to Desert Himalaya Resort in Diskit village and Stone Hedge Hotel in Hunder where students learnt about the management of resorts and hotels and the services they provide to the tourists. In the evening, a group discussion was held at the multipurpose hall of Govt. Higher Secondary School School, Diskit where students reflected upon the learnings of the day. Day second of the tour commenced from Diskit village to Thang, the last village on the Indian side. Students visited the famous Goba Ali Museum cum garden and Indo-Pak viewpoint. In the evening, a cultural night was held wherein students showcased cultural performances such as dance, songs and also narrated their experiences of the tour. On day 3, students took a feel of adventure tourism by participating in ATV ride at Diskit and then returned to Leh.
The tour culminated on a very positive note with learnings and practical exposure about the different attractions as well as about the tourism and hospitality industry .
