Lauds role of volunteers, teachers in smooth, hassle free conduct of classes

Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan convened a meeting to review the status of community classes in Kargil district at the Council Secretariat here today.
Executive Councillor for Social Welfare Aga Syed Hassan Armaan Mosavi, Executive Councillor for Tourism Er Punchok Tashi, Executive Councillor for Works Aga Syed Abass Razvi, Executive Councilor for Health Mohsin Ali, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, Director School Education Ladakh Dr Safdar Ali, Chief Education Officer Kargil Nazir Ahmad Wani besides other concerned officers were present during the meeting.
While terming the ongoing community based classes a success story, CEC Khan appreciated the relentless and dedicated services rendered by the volunteers, teachers, village education committees and the local communities in making this novel concept successful amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the course of the meeting, the CEC was informed that 18539 students are presently being imparted teaching in the community classes across the district at 385 community teaching centres with the help of 1711 teachers and 2166 volunteers.
Pertaining to the data related to different zones, CEC Khan was informed that in Shargole 1522 students are taking community classes at 43 centers with the help of 195 teachers and 219 volunteers.
Similarly in Drass, 2320 students, 59 centers, 220 teachers and 290 volunteers are engaged in community classes while in Kargil Zone 5150 students, 55 centers, 446 teachers, 532 volunteers are importing these classes.
In Sankoo Zone, 5010 students are getting benefits of the classes at 105 centers with the help of 356 teachers and 539 volunteers and in Taisuru 2320 students, 33 centers, 220 teachers and 290 volunteers are engaged in the process, the meeting was informed.
The officers concerned informed the CEC that in Chiktan Zone,1396 students are receiving education through community classes at 57 centers, while 187 teachers and 207 volunteers are involved in the functioning of the classes while in Zanskar 820 students are taking community classes at 33 centers and 87 teachers and 89 volunteers are engaged.
CEC Feroz Khan appreciated the role of volunteers in helping the administration to deal with the problem pertaining to education amid the pandemic and working with sincerity without any remuneration. He appreciated the role of teachers as well.
Chief Education Officer, Nazir Ahmad wani said that due to the involvement of volunteers, a new energy and change has come in the society and to further continue their services a certain framework needs to be devised in the form of appreciation certificates and possible remuneration.
CEC Feroz Khan stressed that community classes need to be promoted and adopted irrespective of pandemic in future, as for the first time community has got involved in such novel concepts and this should continue in future as well.
The CEC said that apart from the lower classes, special focus should be laid on the students who will appear in board examinations, and a strategy needs to be framed for them on priority.
Meanwhile, CEC Feroz Khan expressed gratitude to the LG Ladakh R K Mathur for sanctioning and releasing nearly Rs15 lakhs for conduct of community classes in Kargil district. He asked the DC Kargil to release funds for the community education centres while keeping into consideration the factors like enrolment of students and number of teachers and volunteers.
