The Additional Director General of Police, Satish S. Khandara, announced on Twitter that the Ladakh Police has banned the use of Siren/multi-toned horns by the motorcade/escort vehicles of VIPs in U.T Ladakh. This move aims to curb the misuse of such vehicles and prevent unnecessary noise pollution in the region.

Khandara further stated that necessary departmental and penal action will be taken against any defaulters who violate this rule. He clarified that sirens will only be allowed in cases of extreme emergencies and for the movements of Hon’ble President of India, Hon’ble Vice President of India, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, and Hon’ble Home Minister of India.

The decision to ban the use of Siren/multi-toned horns by the motorcade/escort vehicles of VIPs in U.T Ladakh came after an instruction by the LG Ladakh in a recent meeting.

This decision has been welcomed by the public and is being seen as a positive step towards promoting responsible use of motorcade/escort vehicles and reducing noise pollution in Ladakh.
