ADC Kargil takes stock of ongoing construction works of Kanoor-Sapi Road

Interacts with people of Sapi, Batambis villages

Ensures on spot demarcation of Sapi-Batambis village boundary, election of Nambardar Batambis

KARGIL, JUNE 07, 2021: In order to take stock of the ongoing road construction works on the Kanoor-Sapi Road besides to listen to the various land related issues, grievances and developmental issues of the local people of Sapi, Batambis and adjoining villages, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Kargil Tsering Motup along with the Councillor Choskore Constituency Nassir Hussain Munshi visited Sapi Batambis area here on Sunday.

Executive Engineer R&B II Kacho Mehmood Ali, Officer Commanding 55 RCC Project Vijayak M K Yadav, Naib Tebsildar Kargil Sajjad Hussain besides other concerned officers accompanied the ADC during the tour.

The ADC interacted with the PRI members including Sarpanchs, Panchs and community members who projected their issues, grievances and developmental needs which mainly included the installation of mobile towers, repairs and restoration of irrigation canals and other related issues.

The ADC also trekked on foot for around 4 hours from Sapi to Batambis.

Meanwhile, ADC Tsering Motup convened a meeting of the PRI members and village heads of Sapi and Batambis to develop consensus on the demarcation of boundary (hadbandi) between the two villages in order to remove the bottlenecks in the road construction activities of Kanoor-Sapi Road at certain locations.

The ADC while underlining the importance of the Kanoor-Sapi Road as an alternative route to facilitate movement of both civilian population as well as defence activities, urged them not to hamper road construction works and come to a common concensus to resolve their long pending issues.

Later, in presence of the ADC, the PRI members and village representatives of both villages unanimously agreed to demarcate the boundary (hadbandi) which was marked on the spot and was also duly substantiated by the ADC.

Meanwhile, due to the effective intervention of the ADC, the villagers of Batambis also unanimously elected their Nambardar for the next 3 years which was pending since the year 2010.

As regards to the demand of the villagers for payment of compensation for the land, trees and structures coming under road alignment, the ADC assured that a joint team of Revenue, Forest and PWD officials will be deputed in the area within 5 days to take on spot assessment.

The villagers of both villages including Sarpanch Batamabis Muhammad Hassan and Sarpanch Sapi Nawang Stanzin expressed gratitude to the ADC and other concerned officers to have visited their area on foot to take on spot appraisal of their grievances and issues.

The villagers while appreciating this step of the District Administration assured to extend their full support in the smooth and hassle free execution of developmental works in their area including the unhindered execution of works on the Kanoor-Sapi Road.
