
Leh, February 14, 2026: The Administrative Secretary of School, Technical Education and Higher Education, UT Ladakh, Smt. Bhanu Prabha, attended the 7th edition of the Winter Free Tuition Centre 2026 at the Shesrapskyadtsal Ling Library Centre, Thiksey, as the Chief Guest.
The initiative, organised by the Thiksey Monastery under the vision and guidance of His Eminence the Thiksey Rinpoche and inspired by the teachings of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, aims to provide free winter coaching to students across Ladakh during the harsh winter months.

The programme offers 45 days of free academic coaching along with hostel facilities for students from various parts of the Ladakh region, particularly those from remote and far-flung areas. The initiative seeks to enhance students’ academic knowledge, life skills, and overall personality development during the winter vacation, ensuring productive engagement and reduced screen time.
During the 45-day winter vacation coaching programme, students actively participated in various academic and co-curricular activities, including interactive sessions, expert lectures, cultural performances, singing, ramp walks, and an inter-class quiz competition.

Students also shared their learning experiences, highlighting the benefits activities organised throughout the programme. The concluding event was organised to showcase the cultural performances and to felicitate the winners of different competitions.
On this occasion, certificates were awarded to the meritorious students by Smt. Bhanu Prabha in recognition of their achievements.
In her address, Smt. Bhanu Prabha appreciated the commendable efforts of the organisers for successfully conducting such a large-scale educational initiative amid the severe winter conditions.

She lauded the Thiksey Monastery Association and the entire organising team for their dedication towards strengthening the education system in Ladakh. She also encouraged volunteers to continue engaging with students through regular school visits and interactive sessions to further enrich their educational journey.
Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were Major General Arindam Saha, General Officer Commanding, Infantry Division, Indian Army, along with other senior officers and officials who graced the programme. Parents and local villagers were also present in large numbers, adding warmth and community spirit to the event.
