Advisor Ladakh launches crucial online services

Birth and Death registration certificates will be available online now

 

Rewa portal allows meritorious will financial assistance to meritorious students and online services for registration of birth and death

Leh, December 24

On the eve of Good Governance Day, Umang Narula, Advisor to Lt Governor, Ladakh, launched the website of Social & Tribal Welfare Department and Rewa portal by the Social & Tribal Welfare Department and registration and issuance of birth and death certificate and online rent collection/payment service by the Housing & Urban Development Department.

 

In his inaugural address, Advisor Umang Narula expressed his pleasure on the launch of such crucial online services on the occasion of Good Governance Week as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration. He added that such e-services are an integral part of the broad umbrella of ‘ease of living’ for the citizens of Ladakh and launching them on the day of the first snowfall of the season is in itself a matter of great joy. He stated that ‘digital medium’ is the best way to connect the people of Ladakh with the services offered by the Government given the hardships they face due to the tough climatic conditions and difficult terrain.

He stated that the Rewa portal, an initiative of  LG, is a scheme that will provide financial support to the students of Ladakh. Regarding the online services offered by the Housing & Urban Development Department, Advisor Narula emphasised that by the end of the current financial year all the facilities in the municipal area should be available online for the citizens.

The Advisor directed the Deputy Commissioners (Leh and Kargil) to adopt e-office practices and asked them to augment the capacity for conducting computer-based tests in Ladakh which will be hugely beneficial for the young generation.

Joining the event virtually, D Thara, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs lauded the initiative taken by the Administration of Ladakh and the NIC for making the Government services available online. She said that the online platform is a path-breaking initiative, and Ladakh is the 5th State/UT to have the NIC platform for these services. She exhorted the district administration and local bodies to ensure that the services are used by people and any changes required to make the portal more user friendly should be flagged and incorporated.

D C Mishra, DDG NIC who also joined the launch online, said that the online platform will decrease the cost and time for the citizens to availing the services offered by the Government. He also thanked the Administration of Ladakh and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for giving NIC the opportunity.

‘Rewa- Lt Governor’s Student Support Initiative’ gives financial assistance to meritorious students for availing coaching facility for national level examinations (NEET, JEE, NOA, UG CLAT) and to students who qualify for the preliminary examinations of Civil Services, Indian Forest Service and Indian Engineering Services. Students from Ladakh who have qualified the Civil Services Exams (Prelims) 2021, can register till 31st January 2022 on the Rewa portal at www.socialwelfare.ladakh.gov.in/rewa.

The portal for the Housing & Urban Development Department (www.serviceonline.gov.in) will make the process of registration and issuance of birth and death certificates and online rent collection/payment services smooth for both the department and the citizens of Ladakh. Additionally, it will enable the department to discharge its functions effectively in terms of providing quality service to the people.

Good Governance Week is being celebrated from December 20 to 26. Good Governance week symbolises the strides made by India in promoting citizen-centric governance and improving service delivery in consonance with Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav celebrations to commemorate 75 years of progressive India.

Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Commissioner Secretary Housing and Urban Affairs, Padma Angmo, Secretary Social & Tribal Affairs, Saugat Biswas, Divisional Commissioner, Scientist-E, NIC Ladakh, Phunchok Paldan were present during the launch.
