All Ladakh PMSSS Student Union Conducts First Counselling Session at GHSS Lankerchay
Kargil, June 30, 2025 — The All Ladakh PMSSS Student Union successfully conducted its first offline counselling session at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Lankerchay. The session was aimed at guiding students on various higher education opportunities, focusing on the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS), CUET, NEET, and JEE.
The session commenced with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an*by a student, setting a spiritual tone for the event.
The programme was led by the Union’s executive team including President Atika, Senior Advisors Mukhtar and Mustafa Hakeem, General Secretary Hasina, and Media Coordinator Niyaz.
Senior Advisor Mukhtar formally introduced the Union and its objectives. Following this, Senior Advisor Mustafa Hakeem provided a detailed explanation about admissions to Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) and Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). He emphasized that both institutions conduct their own entrance tests for many courses, while some fall under CUET. He walked students through the registration process and the steps for admission in both universities.
Shabir, a student who qualified JEE, shared his personal experience on preparing for JEE, the pattern of the examination, and how to participate in the counselling process after qualifying.
Union President Atika addressed the students on the PMSSS admission process, explaining the two ways to avail the scholarship—either through direct admission under PMSSSor through own merit (own my own admission). She also guided students on how to fill the PMSSS admission form and submit the necessary documents.
Media Coordinator Niyaz focused on the CUET admission process, offering a step-by-step guide on form filling, subject mapping, and preparing a college preference list.
The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, where students asked queries about scholarships, exams, and college admissions. The Union extended heartfelt thanks to the Principal of GHSS Lankerchay for his cooperation and support in organizing the session.
This counselling initiative marked a positive step towards supporting Ladakhi students in pursuing higher education with proper guidance and awareness.
