Avalanche at Zojilla Traps Many, Urgent Pleas for Reopening of Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri Road

KARGIL,APRIL 04 : In the wake of multiple avalanches striking at various places near Zojilla, hundreds of Ladakh and non Ladakh individuals find themselves stranded at Sonamarg. Individuals and and visitors alike are calling upon the UT Ladakh administration for early opening for vehicular traffic along this route.Sajjad Hussain Kargili a Political Activist from Kargil and Umul Huda a research Scholar at Kashmir University appealed on X for the immediate restoration of road access. Whereas from sources it was came to note that the route was connected from both side and avalanches has been restored.However, with adverse weather conditions the traffic Police Ladakh issued advisory where the timeline for reopening remains uncertain/ suspended due to bad weather predictions and commuters are also advised not to make travel plan on Zojilla Axis. Apt to mention here that many communities await updates from the administration and hoped for a resolution to alleviate the plight of those stranded passengers stranded at Sonamarg from last 4 days.
