Nubra, December 16, 2025:
In a major step towards improving regional connectivity and strengthening emergency response services, B-3 helicopter services were inaugurated today at Diskit in Nubra Valley. The initiative aims to enhance access to essential services, promote tourism, and ensure timely medical evacuation at subsidized fares for residents of the region.
The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nubra, Shri Mukul Beniwal, IAS, along with Station House Officer Shri Meraj Giri and Naib Tehsildar Shri Habibullah, besides other government officials.
Soon after the commencement of services, the helicopter was deployed for a medical emergency, during which a patient from Hunder was successfully airlifted to Leh for advanced medical treatment. The swift response underscored the critical importance of the B-3 helicopter service in providing timely emergency medical support to people living in remote and high-altitude areas.
The introduction of the helicopter service is expected to bring significant benefits to the local population by improving access to healthcare, facilitating rapid medical evacuations during emergencies, and supporting tourism and economic activity in the Nubra region.
The initiative reflects the administration’s continued commitment to strengthening infrastructure and ensuring efficient emergency services in far-flung areas of Ladakh.
