CEC attends virtual inauguration of ‘Exploring LoC and Hunderman Village Experience’ by Hon’ble Prime Minister

 

Kargil, March 07, 2024: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today attended the virtual launch event of ‘Exploring LoC and Hunderman Village Experience’ under Swadesh Darshan 2.0, inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi from Srinagar.

 

While expressing gratitude to the Government of India for including Kargil in Swadesh Darshan 2.0, Dr Jaffer emphasized the importance of incorporating local insights and collaboration with tour and travel operators for the success of such initiatives.

 

He reiterated the commitment of LAHDC Kargil to transform Kargil into a sustainable tourist destination, focusing on longevity rather than transit experiences. “We are dedicated to unlocking hidden treasures of our region and enhancing tourism potential,” the CEC said.

 

CEC Dr Jaffer also expressed gratitude to GoI, Hon’ble, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, and Commissioner Secretary Tourism, Ladakh for their efforts in spotlighting Kargil’s tourism potential.

 

Executive Councilor, Tourism, LAHDC, Kargil, Kacho Mohd. Feroz, emphasized the department’s commitment to positioning Kargil as a premier tourist destination.

 

He stressed the importance of collaborative efforts among tour operators, taxi drivers, hoteliers, and media stakeholders to enhance tourism in Kargil. “We are dedicated to enhance trekking routes, engaging youth in tourism sector and for sustainable growth,” EC Tourism said.

 

Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse informed that a website for the tourism department is under progress. He outlined plans for skill development initiatives for tourism stakeholders and informed about project like Mushkoo Valley under Swadesh Darshan 2.0.

 

DC Kargil assured that the projects would be implemented with the confidence and cooperation of LAHDC, Kargil, and other stakeholders, aimed at boost tourism and economic empowerment in the region.

 

Executive Councilors, Councilors, Civil, Army Officers, and tourism stakeholders, besides a huge gathering attended the inaugural ceremony.
