Leh, Sep 15: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson presided over the inaugural session of the workshop on ‘Sustainable Space Heating Solutions in the Indian Himalayan Region’ including Ladakh, organised by WWF India at Leh today.
Executive Councillor (Tourism), LAHDC Kargil, Punchok Tashi; PCCF Ladakh, Jigmet Takpa; Program Director WWF India, Sejal Worah; Director Ecological Footprints WWF India, Vidya Soundarajan, Officer-in-charge Western Himalayas Programme, Rohit Rattan, Co-founder HIAL, Sonam Wangchuk, besides various dignitaries and stakeholders representing different institutions were present during the workshop.
“We need absolute technological solutions for sustainable space heating systems in Ladakh. Ladakh is envisioning transforming into a Carbon-Neutral region, and such methods and systems would definitely contribute hugely to making it successful. We need to explore variable methodologies for which the Hill Council and the UT Administration could help in framing proper policies. I would appreciate it if the institutions and organisations assist in R&D to come out with absolute solutions for having a sustainable and cost-effective conventional heating system in Ladakh, especially during the winter season,” stated CEC Tashi Gyalson.
The program also had presentations and keynote addresses by guest speakers and resource persons from different institutions.
