Kargil, December 26, 2025: In a major boost to sports infrastructure in the district, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon inaugurated the newly constructed Indoor Stadium at Goma Kargil today. The facility marks a significant milestone in promoting organized sports and encouraging youth participation in healthy activities.
Constructed at a cost of ₹309.86 lakh, the project was executed by the Public Works Department (R&B). The inaugural ceremony witnessed the presence of Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil Kacho Mohd Feroz, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports UT Ladakh Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, Councillor Town Haji Abbas Adulpa, Chief Education Officer Kargil, district officers, and a large number of local residents.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Akhoon congratulated Councillor Haji Abbas Adulpa and the people of Goma Kargil for receiving a modern, state-of-the-art sports facility. He lauded the efforts of the concerned departments and officers for ensuring timely completion of the project.
Highlighting the importance of sports-related infrastructure, Dr. Akhoon said such initiatives play a vital role in nurturing young talent and steering youth away from social challenges by engaging them in meaningful and constructive activities. He informed that multiple developmental projects worth crores of rupees are currently underway across the town under the dynamic leadership of Councillor Haji Abbas Adulpa.
Responding to public demands, the CEC assured that funds for the extension of the existing playground will be allocated under the CAPEX budget in the next financial year. He also revealed that plans are being explored to construct an alternate road to decongest traffic on Goma Kargil Road, ensuring proper technical feasibility before execution. Additionally, he stated that LAHDC Kargil is committed to strengthening the old District Hospital with modern health facilities and adequate manpower.
Executive Councillor Kacho Mohd Feroz also addressed the gathering and congratulated the people of Goma Kargil on achieving this important milestone.
