CEC Dr Jaffer chairs meeting officials of YSS Kargil
Kargil, Jan 10: Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today chaired a meeting with officials of Youth Services and Sports to review the developmental works being executed by the department in the district.
The meeting was attended by Director Youth Services and Sports Officer Ladakh, Mozes Kunzang, Superintending Engineer, R&B Skalzang Dorje, Executive Engineer R&B, Mohammad Sadiq, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Abid Ali, besides other concerned officer of R&B and Youth Services and Sports office.
During the meeting, the CEC Kargil was informed by Director Youth Services and Sports Officer about the stages of various ongoing sports-related developmental works in the district which mainly include construction of multi-storey indoor stadium in Kargil town, development of AstroTurf, Ice Hockey Rink at Airport Road, Ice Hockey rink at Biamathang, development of winter sports academy in Drass and Zanskar, indoor stadium in Sankoo, ice hockey rink at Kiling Thang, development of playground at Barsoo, construction of Ice Hockey Rink at GM Pore, Ice Hockey Rink at Chiktan and various other ongoing projects.
The CEC suggested the director Mozes Kunzang to start Ice Hockey Championship from next year temporarily at newly constructed Ice Hockey Ground at the Airport Road till the remaining works get completed.
CEC Kargil instructed officials from DYSSO and R&B to coordinate effectively for the successful organization of this year’s Ice Hockey CEC Cup in Biamathang, Kargil.
CEC Dr Jaffer suggested to the Director the development of a snow slope at Thulus Pursa near Parkachick, citing its ideal suitability for snow skiing and other winter sports.
He directed block-level officerโs to identify a suitable place in consultation with local villagers to develop short duration sports related projects at the block level.
CEC Kargil emphasized no compromise on material quality in developmental projects and instructed continuous monitoring of the works.
He further emphasized prioritizing sports with the potential to represent Ladakh at national and international levels, such as Ice Hockey, Snow Skiing, Taekwondo, Archery, and other traditional sports.
