CEC Dr Jaffer, DC Shrikant inaugurate NRLM training centre at Saliskote

 

Kargil, Feb 29, 2024: Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon along with Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse, today inaugurated a NRLM Livelihood Training Centre at Saliskote (TSG).

 

Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Ghulam Mohd, Councilor Saliskote, Mohd Sajjad Khan, BPM Rahila Khatoon, SHG members and civil society of Saliskote were present on the occasion.

 

On the occasion, the CEC expressed happiness over the fact that women empowerment is taking momentum in rural areas, thus contributing to livelihood of these women and contributing the economy.

 

CEC Dr Jaffer commended ACD Kargil for the successful implementation of the NRLM scheme in Kargil, noting that these initiatives will enhance livelihood opportunities and reduce dependence on government jobs.

 

The CEC assured that under subsidy sector ways and means will be explored to generate employment and livelihood programmes. He advised the SHG members and concerned officers to focus on the quality and present ability of the finished product.

 

CEC Dr Jaffer also inspected the centre, machines and interacted with Lakh Pati Didis and other SHG members and advised them to dedicatedly work to improve their livelihood.

 

DC Kargil expressed happiness over the opening of livelihood centre. He said more such centres will be developed in other blocks of the district. DC Shrikant said coordinated efforts are needed by all stakeholders to make NRLM a success in the district.

 

Councilor Mohd Sajjad Khan expressed gratitude to the concerned department and emphasized the need for continued coordination and logistic support in the future to ensure the success of the center.

 

ACD Ghulam Mohammad said that the scheme has been highly beneficial for the SHGS in improving their livelihood and expressed hope that the establishment of the training centre will further help in production of good products.

 

Pertinently the centre is equipped with a pickle making machine, embroidery machine and a training centre. Rahila Khatoon BPM presented vote of thanks.
