CEC Feroz Khan visits flood affected Khandah- Badgam

KARGIL, JULY 07, 2022: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan today visited the flood affected village of Khandah-Badgam of Kargil block.

Councillor Chuli Skambu Constituency in LAHDC Kargil, Altaf Hussain, Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Kargil Ghulam Mohammad, Executive Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Isa Ali, Executive Engineer Mechanical Division Mohammad Hassan besides other concerned officers and village representatives accompanied the CEC during the tour.

The CEC interacted with the village representatives and visited the flood affected areas to asses the damage.

Khan was informed that due to the recent flashflood the major irrigation canal of the village has severely got damaged, resulting in the damage to agriculture lands, crops, water pipes, school infrastructure and various other major and minor damages.

Khan directed the concerned officers to do required assessment of damage under various sectors at the earliest and further asserted to take measures to clear the debris via mechanical and manual means on priority.

Khan assured to restore the damaged rooms of the village Middle School. Pertaining to the concrete strengthening and restoration of the major irrigation kul of the village, he assured to find a possibility under a suitable working sector.

Pertaining to irrigation kuls, the CEC directed ACD Kargil to asses the damage and assured to provide water motor for the pump at earliest for easy drinking facility to the settlers.

Related to the issue of SRTC bus services, restoration and repair of Badgam major road, CEC assured that measures will be taken to redress the issues.

Pertinently, the recent flashfloods in Kargil have affected areas of Stakpa Umba, Achambur, Sankoo and Badgam.

All the concerned departments have been engaged by the district administration to resolve the issues and repair the damage caused by recent flood at the earliest.
